1000 Homemade Medical Mask Donation

Doug Ford says a few words on the volunteer work of Salam Neighbour, which operates under Dar Foundation. We were also featured on the Oakville News. You can read more about our 1000 homemade medical mask donation project here.

Dar Foundation Virtual Tours for High School Students

We invited 5 schools in Halton and over 150 students to take a virtual tour of the mosque. We also shared a brief history of Muslims in Canada and an introduction of Islam. Some of what they have to say below!

question and answer portion was fantastic

I think the question and answer portion was fantastic because it really educated students on perspectives on Islam and we received responses that were the most honest available.

struck conversations in our classroom

The presentation was beautifully composed very informative and I feel like it deepened and supported my knowledge of Islam. The presentation had knowledgeable scholars as well as struck conversations in our classroom. It had a lasting effect and helped our class perceive Islam.

everything was excellent

I thought everything was excellent. I actually wished we had more time for the questions and answers. We are so grateful for this amazing opportunity.

a real opportunity for students to experientially learn

The masjid tour, wudu and prayer video were excellent – a real opportunity for students to experientially learn. The presenters were prepared, organized, and engaging. Students especially appreciated that the presenters were post-secondary students leading this conversation. Dr. Qourshah was very informative with a strong theological background in Islam, adding that credibility piece.

Testimonials From Volunteers and Members

Listen to what some of our amazing volunteers have to say about Salam Neighbour and some of the projects we worked on this year – including the medical mask donation, virtual tours, anti-racism campaigns, Ramadan 30 Day Challenge, neighbourhood gifts project and more!

There’s nothing better than working with like-minded individuals to spread Islam’s truth and beauty with clarity. Working on the Ramadan 30-Day Challenge was fun because we’re able to show our beliefs and values in a Social Media format that was engaging and interactive. Being able to help out with the initiative where we created a thousand masks meant a lot. Salam Neighbour makes me think of others before myself; it pushes me to think of ideas that’ll help generate awareness for marginalized groups in our community and beyond.

Salam Neighbour Volunteer

We did a great job this year. We committed to the Salam Neighbour, did projects for neighbors and online and even though all projects have different aspects, they had the same goal. I enjoyed that a lot. What I really liked about our group is that it was committed to whatever project we did.

Salam Neighbour Volunteer

Salam Neighbour is honestly one of the best organizations I worked with. What makes it so special is the people and Directors. Everyone is so supportive and inclusive, they care about each other and really want the best and care for – not only for our Halton community, but for our volunteers.  This volunteer group does an amazing job focusing on building ties and supporting the local community like with the anti-racism campaign we did to support our black community by reflecting on some of the black lives that had a huge impact on our history. Other than volunteer work, breaking stereotypes and even educational masjid tours, this organization also emphasizes on giving our youth more confidence in their Muslim identities and developing them to be role models for future generations.
