EVENTS

Since 2019, Salam Neighbour has gone to various events around the GTA. From Midnight Madness in Oakville, to the Children’s Festival in Milton, to the Multicultural Event, to the Latino Festival, to the Town Hall and of course to Canada Day.

Canada Day - Bronte

On July 1st, Salam Neighbour is there to share their Islamic history and diverse culture with Canadians to promote understanding and respect to Islamic traditions and beliefs. One on one interaction through conversations, activities and competitions!

Midnight madness - Oakville

One of our first events in 2019, where Salam Neighbour had the opportunity to share their Islamic culture with their fellow Oakville Neighbours at an event that had about 50,000 people! We had a chance to win a raffle if attendees answered an Islamic History Question to go on a free plane ride across Toronto city!

INITIATIVES

Mask-Making Initiative

There was a huge shortage in masks for our front line workers in hospitals. Contacted many hospitals, and the Salam Neighbour team decided to help by making 1000 homemade masks that were donated generously to Toronto hospital to support front line workers at risk.

Shelter Drive

During COVID, there was a shortage in food supplies especially in shelters. Each Salam Neighbour team member decided to collect perishable food items from their neighbours to help support the GTA community. After collecting many food school supplies, the Salam Neighbour team gathered to distribute evenly to organizations based on their needs, like the Red Cross, private women & children shelters. Volunteers delivered these bags personally to these shelters, in the result of sustaining them during the pandemi

Neighbourhood Gifts

During the pandemic, the Salam Neighbour team made gift baskets to deliver to their fellow neighbours around Dar Foundation (local Oakville masjid) to show support. Our goal was to help others stay positive and put a smile on our neighbours faces during this challenging year.
