FAQ
School Visits Questions
How long is each session?
Most presentations run between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your schedule and the grade level. We can adjust the length for assemblies, class periods, or rotation-based gallery walks.
How far in advance do we need to book?
We recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance, especially for peak times like Islamic Heritage Month (October) and Ramadan. However, we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests when possible.
Are the presentations grade-appropriate?
Yes! We tailor each session based on the grade level and audience. Whether we’re working with elementary students or high school classes, our content is engaging, respectful, and age-appropriate.
Do you offer virtual options?
Absolutely. We provide live virtual presentations and mosque tours, perfect for schools outside the GTA or those looking for flexible scheduling. Interactive Q&A is included in all virtual sessions.
What is your experience working with schools?
Since 2019, we’ve worked with over 5,000 students and 800 educators across Ontario. Our team is experienced in both public and Catholic school systems, and we regularly support World Religion classes, heritage months, and inclusive education efforts.
Is there a cost?
Salam Neighbour is a non-profit organization. While we do not charge a fixed fee, honorariums or donations are appreciated to help us cover materials, travel, and volunteer training. We aim to keep our programs accessible to all schools. If needed to stay or drive long distances, we would appreciate travel expenses to be covered.

See What Educators Had to Say
"I really enjoyed the Q&A format and the fact that we were free to ask questions throughout the presentation. This made it feel much more like a conversation and gave us opportunities to ask questions as they came up.The presentation gave us teachers lots of useful information regarding our own students, prayer, and why some might be extra tired during Ramadan. This was honestly my favorite presentation that we've had, and I came away from it with a positive attitude and feeling as though I had learned a lot. I really appreciate that you had translated copies of the Qur'an so we can read into the concepts discussed ourselves. It would be great if you had a second version of this presentation—a follow-up session that builds on the first. I feel like we could have talked for another few hours."
Ottawa Teacher
“This was by far the best workshop I have been to. I just wish we could have more. And I honestly wish more of the staff would have been there to hear it. Although I loved that there was just a small group—otherwise, I don’t know that I would have had the courage to ask my questions.
I am so thankful for the safe environment to ask questions and to learn so much. Going into this presentation, I felt like there were some overlapping values between the Catholic faith and Islam. And I really appreciate how, with the presentation, I see how much more this rings true.”
Catholic Educator
“Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to our World Religions students today. Such a great presentation. I have been teaching the course for the last few years and am always trying to bring in new, exciting, and experiential components to the course. I look forward to inviting you back next time I teach it! I really appreciate your team's willingness to provide an overview of Islam for our students, take them on a tour, and answer their questions. I know it is difficult to gauge in this virtual environment, but my students in class were engaged. It worked well with our schedule, as I just wrapped up a unit on the Abrahamic faiths last week.”
