PROPHETS
A: Muslims believe that God is the One and Only Creator of the universe, and that there is no other God but Him. He is the One who deserves to be worshiped because he is the true Creator and Sustainer.
“And He has granted you all that you asked Him for. If you tried to count Allah’s blessings, you would never be able to number them.” [Quran: 14: Verse 34]
A: Allah in Arabic translates directly to God in English.
A: How is it that the first discovery of the universe began from an infinitely hot and dense point in 1931?! Where over 1400 years ago, the Quran mentions that Allah says: “Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and earth were ˹once˺ one mass then We split them apart? And We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?” (21:30)
A: Why is it that in 1929, Edwin Hubble just discovered the consistent expansion of the universe? Where Allah (GOD) in the Quran (revealed 1400 years ago), mentions that He is ‘expanding’ the universe.“We built the universe with ˹great˺ might, and We are certainly expanding ˹it˺”. (51:47)
A: We all know that a human cannot create another human. There HAS to be a higher Creator who created us humans. As humans recently discovered the creation of a human and how they are reproduced, Quranic verses give exact descriptions of the main stages the embryo encounters during creation and its formation until delivery. These changes coincide with the remarks of modern embryology.
Quran: “then We developed the drop into a clinging clot ˹of blood˺, then developed the clot into a lump ˹of flesh˺, then developed the lump into bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, then We brought it into being as a new creation. So Blessed is Allah, the Best of Creators.” 23:14
A: Yes, muslims believe in Jesus as a prophet. He was sent down with the same message as the previous prophets (such as Prophet Noah, Prophet Moses, Prophet Abraham etc…). The message was believing in ONE God.
A: Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary (or Maryam, Peace Be Upon Her) without a father; A miracle birth, similar to that of Prophet Adam, the first man of creation, who was created without a father or a mother. In the Holy Quran, Allah revealed that Jesus is neither God nor the son of God.
“I [Jesus] am indeed the servant of God. He has given me the Book and made me a Prophet.” (19:30)
Muslims believe that Jesus, among other Prophets, performed miracles, like giving sight to the blind and bringing the dead back to life, with God’s permission.

A: Interestingly, the Prophet was illiterate, so he could not read or write. He was known as the most honest and the most trustworthy by his people. Allah has chosen him as he is the best of mankind in his manners. One of the miracles that came with the Prophet is the Quran (Holy Book), which was a summing up of all messages that had been revealed before by all prophets and messengers. This highlights that the Quran is truly the word of (God).
A: Quran: This Holy Book is a revelation from God (Allah) that was sent down to Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him) to spread God’s word of truth and justice for all of humanity.
Sunnah: The teachings and sayings of the last and final messenger – Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him), who Muslims believe is the best role model to follow to guide them in the faith.
To sum up the Quran and Sunnah: Muslims rely heavily on these two main sources. For example; The Quran simply contains the command to pray, while the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) Sunnah showed us how to pray step-by-step.
A: In Arabic, muslim means “the one who submits”.
A: Jihad is to strive or put the highest effort for the sake of Allah. On a personal level, striving to be the best person you can be. Striving to do good deeds, helping people, giving charity especially if you do not have much, reframing from doing harm.Striving from stealing or striving from bullying, or telling the truth even when it is hard.
On a community level that means spreading justice and eliminating oppression for the sake of Allah (God). It encourages us to seek peace for conflict resolution.
Prophet Muhammed says: “the best form of Jihad is to tell a word of truth to an oppressive ruler”
A: It is encouraged for Muslims to respect other faiths.
“Do not insult those whom they worship besides Allah” – Quran Chapter 6, Verse 109
“Beware! Whoever is cruel and hard on a non-Muslim minority, or curtails their rights […], I will complain against the person on the Day of Judgment.” – Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
A: The term sharia directly translates to law in english. Sharia is a universal law set by Allah, basically is the way of life. It covers every aspect of life. It covers everything from inheritance to marriage laws to family laws, and so on. In short, sharia is a divine constitution that every Muslim should live by. There are 6 core universal interests that sharia tries to protect. In Islam, our shariah has 6 main interests. They are: to protect life, to protect religion, to protect reason/intellect, to protect wealth and to protect family and honor.
Unfortunately, the word Sharia is often painted in a negative way by the media, where they focus on criminal law, WHICH IS NOT TRUE.
A quick example of shariah is: alcohol. Muslims aren’t allowed to drink. The wisdom behind drinking is that alcohol clouds judgment and this goes against the interest of protecting reasoning/intellect.
Another example of shariah is protecting life and honor. For example, we cannot insult or humiliate or oppress any other human, regardless of their religion, identity, ethnicity, or any factor that makes them different from us as Muslims.
A: Of course not. Muslim women had the right to vote, right to financial independence, right to have property ownership and much more since the 7th century!
Did you know?
That American women got their right to their financial independence in 1839!? American women did not have the right to “separate economy”, it is the husband/father/brother who manages the women’s money in those countries.
Did you know?
That American women got their right to vote in the 1920’s!? And still, women of color still had their limitations for voting. It was not until the 19th Amendment only really granted white women the right to vote.
A: In Islam, all Muslims have the CHOICE of following a commandment from Allah. Simply, the Hijab is a beautiful act of worship. Practicing Muslims choose to dress according to the commands of God, following a dress code which aligns with values of modesty and respect. Muslim women wear the hijab, so they may be honored and recognized in society, and as for Muslim men, they cover from the navel to the knee.
Hijab is the Arabic word for “veil”. It refers to modest clothing that women wear to cover their body from head to toe, not just the hair!
Did you know?
The command of covering the head is not exclusive to Islam, rather it extends to ALL Abrahamic Faiths (Islam, Judaism, Christianity). For example; most traditional depictions of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Christ, depict her veiled in a cloth.
